Vyacheslav Novikov was born in Harkov, Ukraine, in 1947. He graduated from the Kiev Conservatory, where his teacher was Professor V. Topilin. Novikov started his career as a soloist of the Kiev Philharmonic Orchestra and became one of the outstanding musicians of the former Soviet Union. Acclaimed by critics and audiences, he performed in the great concert halls of Kiev, Moscow, Leningrad and Tallinn, both as a soloist and in ensembles with other famous musicians. Tours in European countries (Hungary, Romania, Poland, Germany, Finland) established Novikov's fame as a prominent interpreter and piano virtuoso. Since 1989, Novikov has lived in Finland.
