Kari Jussila (b. 1943) received an organist's diploma in 1966 and gave his first concert in Helsinki that same year. He continued his studies with Guy Bovet in Switzerland and with Marie-Claire Alain in France and attended numerous masterclasses in Finland and abroad. In 1963 he won the first prize in a national organ competition in Helsinki.
Kari Jussila has performed with orchestra, as a chamber musician, and as a solo recitalist in most European countries, in the United States and Russia. He has given the world premières or first Finnish performances of some fifty contemporary organ and chamber music works. He has taped numerous first recordings for the Finnish Broadcasting Company and has made records of solo organ and chamber music.
