Monica Groop, mezzo-soprano

Finnish mezzo-soprano Monica Groop is recognised for her amazing versatility in a wide-ranging repertoire that spans baroque music through classical to contemporary. Always in demand from many of the world's leading opera houses and orchestras such as Covent Garden, Paris, Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, Monica Groop divides her time between challenging operatic roles and both the standard and lesser known concert repertoire. She has worked with conductors as diverse as Colin Davis, Zubin Mehta, Bernard Haitink, Roger Norrington, Ivor Bolton, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Christoph Eschenbach. As a recitalist she has become particularly respected for her unique interpretation of Scandinavian music.
