Press review

Karita Mattila has good go at scat singing and in the delivering climactic phrases that swing rather than hold the air like operatic high notes.
Mike Ashman, Gramophone, March 2008

A big show featuring the versatile Karita Mattila. (...) Recommended, not only for Fans of Karita Mattila.

Complete description

"Fever" is Karita Mattila's long-awaited light music and jazz album, which includes popular standards by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hammerstein II, Antônio Carlos Jobim, and others.

This recording has been cut from several sold-out live performances of a tailored show, which took place in August 2007 in the "body-and-soul" diva's native Finland. All songs were arranged by Finnish jazz icon Kirmo Lintinen who, together with his band and a female vocal trio, backed Karita Mattila as musical director, conductor and pianist. The musical performances were unanimously praised by the press.

Described by Musical America as "...the most electrifying singing actress of our day, the kind of performer who renews an aging art form and drives the public into frenzies." (Musician of the Year Award 2005), Karita Mattila is one of the most radiant personalities in the classical world, and the best-selling artist in Finnish classical music. Karita Mattila has an extensive opera and Lied discography. Two of her opera recordings, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Jenufa, earned her Grammy Awards. Her most successful solo albums have been released on Ondine, the latest of which is a live-recorded "Helsinki Recital" (ODE 1100-5; 2006) featuring the première recording of Kaija Saariaho's Quatre Instants.
