Lasse Pöysti is the Finnish translator and narrator of these two popular children stories with orchestra:
Pekka ja Susi (Peter and the Wolf) was composed by Sergei Prokofiev in 1937 for his son, who wanted to learn the Russian national tale without having to read it. Prokofiev also wrote the narrated text.
Tarina Babarista (origin. Histoire de Babar, le petit éléphant / engl. The Story of Babar the Elephant) is a French story written by Jean de Brunhoff in 1931, which inspired Francis Poulenc to his same named work for piano and narrator, later orchestrated by Jean Françaix.
The Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra performs under the direction of Jukka-Pekka Saraste.
