Robert Kolinsky, piano

Swiss pianist Robert Kolinsky (b. 1970) studied in Basel and Prague with LászlĂł Gyimesi, Peter Efler, and Jan Panenka (Suk Trio). He continued his studies with György Kurtág and Witold Lutosławski, in addition to Hammerklavier courses with Jean Goverts at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.

Robert Kolinsky has performed under such conductors as Vladimir Ashkenazy and Gustavo Dudamel and regularly gives solo recitals. His duo partners include Josef Suk, Peter-Lukas Graf, Dimitri Ashkenazy, Veronika Hagen, Alison Balsom, Antonio Meneses, and Sasha Rozhdestvensky. Furthermore, he has performed chamber music with percussionist Peter Sadlo, oboist Heinz Holliger, pianist Anna Gourari, and Kremerata Baltica. He has appeared at international festivals, among them Les Muséiques in Basel, under Gidon Kremer, and the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad.

Robert Kolinsky has recorded concerto and chamber music repertoire ranging from Bach to Henze for Swiss Radio DRS, in addition to premiere recordings of works by Robert Suter and István Hajdu. Together with the Keller Quartet, he is featured in a film documentary on Heinz Holliger, produced by Swiss television and released on DVD by Medici Arts. Robert Kolinsky is the initiator and artistic director of the annual International Music Festival B. Martinů in Basel, under the patronage of Václav Havel and Moritz Leuenberger. He also founded the chamber music group Ensemble Basilisk. In 2002, he was awarded by the UBS Cultural Foundation.
