Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra

The Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra (hr-Sinfonieorchester) is among the best European orchestras today. More than 80 years after its formation, Germany's third oldest radio orchestra plays convincingly in all styles and periods - from Baroque to contemporary avant-garde - which is certainly due to the ensemble's flexibility, open-mindedness and high qualification. With a wide variety of concerts and CD releases, the symphony orchestra of the Hessischer Rundfunk (German Public Radio of Hesse) - together with its Chief Conductor Paavo Järvi - has celebrated worldwide success and is a prestigious guest on renowned international stages such as at the Proms in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and in places like Vienna, Salzburg, Paris, Budapest and Prague, or even Japan and China.

Following a line of succession of great conductors including Hans Rosbaud, Dean Dixon, Eliahu Inbal and Hugh Wolff, Estonian Paavo Järvi has been Chief Conductor of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2006, enriching it through his work with new and exciting aspects. Experiments and discoveries both in the area of old and new music and the collaboration with top-class conductors and soloists is just as much part of its artistic profile as is the boundary-crossing Music Discovery Project, the participation in the International Conductor's Competition Sir Georg Solti as well as numerous children and youth projects.
